A Physical Game, After Dinner

At The Table Pantry, poker is a physical, offline game played with real cards and chips at a dedicated table. It is an elegant addition to your evening, not a digital or online activity.

  • The poker table is set in a dedicated area of the restaurant, designed for comfort and conversation.
  • No screens, no software, no online play—just the tactile feel of cards and chips.
  • The game is hosted by a friendly dealer who guides the play and keeps the atmosphere relaxed.

A Table Built for Play

Our poker table is a custom-built piece, finished in warm wood with a soft felt surface. It seats up to eight players comfortably, with space for drinks and small plates.

  • The table is located in a quiet corner of the restaurant, away from the main dining flow.
  • The felt is a deep green, reminiscent of classic card rooms, but with a subtle texture that feels premium.
  • Each seat has a dedicated chip tray and a small side table for drinks.

The Atmosphere

The poker area is lit with warm, low-level lighting that creates an intimate, focused atmosphere. It feels like a private club, but with the welcoming warmth of The Table Pantry.

  • Soft overhead lights are positioned to illuminate the table without glare.
  • The surrounding decor includes pantry-inspired shelving with subtle card and chip motifs.
  • Background music is kept low to allow for conversation and the quiet shuffle of cards.

The Tactile Essentials

The Cards

We use high-quality, plastic-coated playing cards that are durable and easy to shuffle. They have a classic design with a subtle The Table Pantry label on the back.

  • Cards are replaced regularly to ensure they remain crisp and clean.
  • The design features a small pantry jar icon, tying into the restaurant's theme.
  • Standard 52-card decks are used, with no jokers.

The Chips

Our poker chips are made from a composite clay material that gives them a satisfying weight and sound. They come in a range of colours, each representing a different value.

  • Chip colours: tomato red, butter yellow, eucalyptus green, soft blue, and off-white.
  • Each chip has a textured edge for easy handling.
  • Chips are stored in wooden trays on the table, adding to the tactile experience.

From Dinner to Cards

A poker evening at The Table Pantry typically begins with dinner in the main dining room. After your meal, you can move to the poker table for a relaxed game.

  1. Reserve Your Evening

Reservations for poker are made as part of a dining reservation. Mention your interest when booking.

  2. Enjoy Dinner First

The game is played in a casual, friendly manner—no high stakes, just enjoyment. Your meal is the main event.

  3. Take a Seat

A dealer is present to explain the rules and keep the game moving. The table seats up to eight players.

  4. Play at Your Pace

The game usually lasts for about two hours, but you can leave at any time. It is designed to be relaxed and social.

A Meal First, Always

The Main Event

At The Table Pantry, dining is always the main event. Poker is offered as an optional after-dinner activity for those who wish to extend their evening.

  • The menu is designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace before the game.
  • Dishes are served in the main dining room, not at the poker table.
  • The transition from dinner to poker is seamless, with coffee and desserts available throughout.

A Shared Experience

Poker at The Table Pantry is about socialising and enjoying the company of friends or family. It is a shared experience that brings people together around the table.

  • The game encourages conversation and laughter, not intense competition.
  • It is suitable for both experienced players and complete beginners.
  • The dealer helps create a welcoming environment for everyone.

Your Host for the Evening

Our poker dealer is more than just a card handler; they are your host for the evening. They are trained to create a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere and to help players of all levels.

  • The dealer explains the rules clearly and patiently.
  • They manage the pace of the game to keep it engaging.
  • They are knowledgeable about the restaurant's menu and can recommend pairings.
  • The dealer ensures that the game remains friendly and respectful.

Dress Smart, Play Kind

Dress Code

The Table Pantry has a smart casual dress code. For poker evenings, we recommend comfortable yet elegant attire that suits the restaurant's atmosphere.

  • No sportswear, beachwear, or overly casual clothing.
  • Smart jeans and a collared shirt are acceptable for men.
  • Dresses, skirts, or smart trousers with a blouse are suitable for women.
  • Comfortable shoes are recommended as you may be seated for a while.

Table Etiquette

Poker at The Table Pantry is a friendly game, but we ask that all players follow basic etiquette to ensure everyone enjoys the experience.

  • Please be respectful to the dealer and other players.
  • Avoid using your phone at the table; it's a time to disconnect and socialise.
  • Keep conversations light and inclusive.
  • If you are unsure about a rule, ask the dealer—they are happy to help.

Book Your Evening

Poker is available on Friday and Saturday evenings from 8pm to 11pm. To book, simply make a dinner reservation and mention that you would like to add poker.

Reserve Your Table
  • Reservations can be made by phone at +64 9 555 1234 or by email at [email protected].
  • Please book at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a seat at the table.
  • The poker table seats up to 8 players, so larger groups may need to split into two sessions.
  • There is no additional charge for poker; it is included with your dining experience.

For Fun, Not Fortune

Poker at The Table Pantry is purely for entertainment. There is no real money wagering, no buy-ins, and no cash prizes. The chips are used only to keep score during the game.

  • The game is played with chips that have no monetary value.
  • There is no exchange of money at the poker table.
  • The focus is on enjoyment and socialising, not winning.
  • This ensures a relaxed, pressure-free environment for all guests.
